The US Government’s International Development Finance Corporation has committed more than $550m to the development of a deepwater shipping container terminal at the Port of Colombo in Sri Lanka.


Danish shipping giant Maersk has invested $500m to improve Southeast Asia’s supply chain infrastructure to establish the region as a global production hub.


Abu Dhabi-based port developer AD Ports Group has announced the acquisition of ten offshore vessels, to be used in operations across Asia and boost the group’s revenue. The company says that the $200m investment will generate $70m in revenue per year over the next three to five years.


Italian shipbuilding company Fincantieri and the Port System Authority of the Central Adriatic Sea have signed an agreement to invest €80m ($86.9m) into the development of the Port of Ancona on Italy’s eastern coast. 


The Dutch Government will invest €60m ($63.6m) in “innovative shipbuilding” with the hope of re-energising the shipbuilding sector that was previously a strong point of the nation’s economy.
