DP World and Evyap Group complete strategic merger

Logistics company DP World has completed a strategic merger with the Evyap Group to combine the operations of the Ports of Yarimca and Körfez in Turkey. The companies have formed a new entity called DP World Evyap, with DP World taking a 58% stake in Evyapport and the Evyap Group managing a 42% stake in DP World Yarimca as the companies work together on a new logistics hub on the Marmara Sea. 

STAR group takes control of V.Group for $150m

Construction engineering group Ackermans & Van Haaren has partnered with STAR Capital to acquire V.Group. The Belgian group will take 33% of V.Group, a ship management and marine support service provider, from Advent International in exchange for $150m. STAR did not disclose its agreement with Advent for the remainder of the transaction.

Hanwha acquires Philly Shipyard for $100m

US shipbuilding company Philly Shipyard has been sold to South Korea’s Hanwha in a deal worth $100m. The share purchase agreement will see Hanwha Systems and Hanwha Ocean take on the entirety of Philly Shipyard Inc, the operating subsidiary of the Oslo-listed and Aker-owned Philly Shipyard ASA.

SAS gets shareholder approval for GCC buyout

MSC subsidiary SAS Shipping Agencies Services has reached the “minimum acceptance” threshold with shareholders of its acquisition target Gram Car Carriers (GCC), clearing the way for the company to finalise the deal. The company’s $700m cash offer has now been approved by shareholders holding 93.56% of GCC’s shares, surpassing the 90% minimum set out in SAS’ initial offer, allowing the company to carry out a compulsory purchase of the remaining 10% under Norwegian law.
