CMA CGM completes $5.2bn acquisition of Bolloré Logistics

French shipping company CMA CGM has completed the largest acquisition in its history with the €4.85bn ($5.24bn) purchase of Bolloré Logistics from The Bolloré Group. 

The purchase includes the entirety of the transport and logistics company, though the transfer of Bolloré Logistics Sweden is currently subject to foreign investment approval in Sweden. 

DP World acquires Savannakhet dry port in Laos

Dubai-based port and logistics company DP World has added another port to its portfolio with its acquisition of Savan Logistics, the operating company of the Savannakhet dry port in Laos. Following its acquisition of Savan, DP World will take on the dry port and warehousing services at the port, alongside cross-border transport, freight forwarding, and integrated logistics solutions. 

Optimarin acquires BWT competitor Hyde Marine

Norwegian ballast water treatment (BWT) system manufacturer Optimarin has acquired the Hyde Marine brand from Italy’s De Nora, as it looks to expand its product portfolio. The company has purchased the technologies, trademarks and selected assets of the Hyde Marine and Hyde Guardian UV ballast water treatment technology brands but will not directly take on any of the brand’s staff.

Austal rejects Hanwha takeover bid over approval concerns

Australian shipbuilding and marine technology company Austal has rejected a takeover bid by South Korea’s Hanwha Ocean, citing uncertainty over the approvals of Australian and US regulatory bodies of the acquisition. Austal confirmed receipt of the “unsolicited” bid, worth A$1.02bn ($662m), but said that it was particularly concerned about gaining approvals relating to its role as a partner to the Australian and US navies.
