Earlier this year, Frequentis, an Austrian high-tech company specialised in developing communication and information systems, launched a new remote control solution for the maritime industry designed to aid critical decision-making in cases of emergency.

Frequentis’ system features a set of monitors which display all the functionalities an operator or port authority needs during safety critical situations, including vessel information, resource allocation, geolocation and call handling.

According to the company’s UK director of operations Georg Berger, this helps ease the workload for operators and increases situational awareness by allowing multiple systems or modules to connect seamlessly in one place.
